One of our main concerns was having a table of some sort inside the camper – I asked if the small camper we were planning to rent would have this table inside or if we needed to get a bigger camper in order to have a table. They responded quickly, saying that all of their campers have a table inside so we can eat inside (we went to Iceland in March so it was very cold). I was then told to put in the comments that we needed a table to make sure we got it. The email said they can’t 100% guarantee a table, but if we didn’t get a one, they’d give us some free extras. Since they told me all campers had a table in it, I was a bit confused by this email, but other than that, the campervan and company seemed perfect for us, so we went for it.

When it got closer to the day of arrival, I sent another email to confirm our reservation and find out where they’d be picking us up. Again, they were very responsive and said they’d pick us up at 9am (their earliest pick up). They also provided me with detailed directions of where we would get picked up. We arrived at 615am but by the time we got our bags and sat down and had some juice and coffee, it was almost 9. We were picked up on time by a very nice employee, and taken to the campervan site to get our van.

When we got there, our van did not have a table inside of it.  They said someone just gave out the last one with a table and there’s nothing they could do about it. I found this hard to believe, because none of the campervans that were the same size had a table inside. I’m not entire sure why he didn’t just tell me that from the beginning; we probably would have spent the extra money to get a bigger campervan. They claimed they would give us some extras for free to compensate – like sleeping bags and a table and chairs for outside, but I was charged for that stuff anyway.

I was a bit disappointed since I was told that all of the campers have tables in them, but there wasn’t much I could do at this point. Within 30 minutes we were all checked in and on our way to explore Iceland.

The van itself was clean and perfect for us. It came with a hot plate and 2 cans of gas to use, which ended up being enough for our entire 9 day trip, and we cooked almost every single meal. The van was also stocked with plastic plates and cups, silverware, and cleaning supplies for the dishes. I can’t remember a time when we needed something to cook with but couldn’t find it in the van.

The way the bed is set up in the van, there was plenty of storage underneath of the bed. It was high enough off the ground that we were able to slide both of our suitcases underneath the bed, as well as any food or drinks we bought. Because it was winter in Iceland, we didn’t really need a cooler or fridge to keep our food fresh.

There were curtains on all of the windows and a divider curtain between the front driving part and where the bed was set up, which did a great job keeping the light out at night and giving us privacy to change in the van.

I was most worried about the bed and being cold at night. I have some issues with my back, so I was worried that sleeping in a van for 9 days would cause me to be in a lot of pain. Luckily, it was quite comfortable. Having the sleeping bags as extra padding was great and made the bed much more comfortable. The heater worked well, so we were never too cold at night.

We returned the van to the airport, which was very convenient, and within a couple of days we had our deposit back with no issues. I’ve heard horror stories about people not getting their deposits back or being charged for damages that didn’t really occur, but we had no issue with this.

Honestly, my only real complaint about the van and the company was the table issue. Overall, they were great. The van was clean, it functioned perfectly, the heater was great, and we had an amazing time traveling around Iceland.

If you plan on going to Iceland during their winter time and want to rent a van, I strongly recommend renting one that is manual instead of automatic. The vans all have snow tires, but when we got stuck in a couple snow storms, it would have been much better to have a stick-shift van. If, or probably when, we go back to Iceland, we will likely use this company again.
