An Amalfi Coast vacation is something everyone should do at least once in their lives. I know I say this a lot, but it’s one of the most beautiful, peaceful places I have ever been to. Driving along the Amalfi coast is absolutely stunning; the views are like something you see on a postcard. Keep in mind, though, that actually driving along these roads is pretty scary. The roads are windy and so small that you’d think they were one-way streets, but they aren’t. There are huge tour buses that try to fit down these roads, and when that happens, it does get a little scary. Traveling down the scary roads is worth it to take an Amalfi coast vacation.

There are a lot of things to do in Amalfi, but we went in the winter so we were a bit more limited. We only went to Amalfi for 1 day and 1 night, but, in the summer especially, you could definitely spend a couple days there and have plenty of things to do

Driving to and from Amalfi can be pretty scary! This small road not only goes both directions, but also has cars parked on the right side! At times, it seemed like it would be impossible for us to get through the road when there was a huge tour bus coming toward us, but somehow we made it!

The first thing we needed to do before we actually got to Amalfi, Italy was find a place to stay. We ended up staying at Holidays Baia D’Amalfi, and it was absolutely perfect; I can’t recommend it enough. We had a tiny little room, which was perfectly fine for us, with a balcony where we had a stunning view of the water. The room was clean, the balcony had chairs and a table for us to sit at, and there was also breakfast included. Additionally, parking was free, which was very helpful. One thing to note is that it occupies the third floor of a building, so there’s a lot of steps and no elevator. The hotel, and Amalfi in general, truly feels like being in Italy. It doesn’t feel like tourism has taken over, even though I’m sure the Amalfi Coast is a very popular place for tourists. The little town of Amalfi has stone and brick roads and walkways, and little restaurants, shops, and churches throughout.

In my opinion, the best thing to do in Amalfi is to just walk around, find a restaurant, and admire the views of the water. The sunset is amazing, and the view after the sun sets is also beautiful, with all of the lights of the buildings illuminating the water. It’s one of those places that just feels magical. I hope to take many more Amalfi Coast vacations!

If you’re looking for things to do in Amalfi, Italy other than admiring the water, you should take some time to check out the Amalfi Cathedral. The outside of it is stunning, and the inside is also very nice. When traveling and going on vacation, it can be easy to forget that you’re visiting somewhere that people live and call home year-round, so just remember to be respectful.  There is also St. Andrew’s fountain, which is another cool thing to visit when you’re in Amalfi.

If you end up taking your Amalfi Coast vacation in the summertime, you will have the added bonus of being able to take boat tours. There are some boat tours that will take you to Capri and some tours that will take you to see some really cool looking caves. We didn’t get a chance to take one because we went in the winter, but I hope to go back one summer so we can check it out.
